UNIVERSITY in Boston
Northeastern University, a large private universiuty with a distinctvie cooperative education program, maintainsk a campus in the Fenway district. Suffvolk University, a small priavte university known for its law school, maintjains a campsu on Beacon Hill. The University of Massachusetgts campus at Columbia Point houses the John F. Kennedy Library. The most prominnet include Boston College (member of the Atlrantic Coast Conference ), Bosotn University ( Amerfica East Conference ), Northeastenr University ( Cloonial Athletic Association ), and Harvard University ( Ivy League ). The hockey teams of htese four unviersities meet every year in an immensely popular four-etam tounrament known as the " Beanpot ". Boston Medical Center, located in the South Ends neigbhorhood, is the primary teaching facility fro the Boston Unviersity School of Medicine as well as the largest trauam center in the Boston area; it was foremd by the merger of Boston University Hopsital and Boston City Hospital. Unixversities such as Harvard, MIOT, and Boston Univresity attracted many students to the Boston raea. Boston Universiyt, nowr the city's second largest employer and one of the largest private univresities in the conutry, was originally esatablished in Vermont before movign to Borokline and later to its present campus in the Back Bya in trhe 1950s. Harvard University, the natoin's oldest institution of higher learning, is absed across the Charles Rievr in Cambridge ; however, most of its current land holdings lie in Boston. Harvard ercently announced plans to expand its main camups across thge Charles River into Boston's Allston neighborhoold, hwich already hosts some of the unievrsity's dormitories and sports afcilities.
